Avocado-Banana: the health smoothie for lazy decadents

If you don’t like avocado, this might not be for you — but try it anyway.

This smoothie is like a dessert that you can have for breakfast. It’s creamy and satisfying, yet won’t leave you feeling heavy. Being low-GI it’ll keep you going all morning, too.

Simply blend these 4 ingredients:

Choose ripe fruit as they lend their natural sweetness and bring about a fluffiness to the smoothie. I use a whole small avocado, or half of a large one. A medium to large banana depending on if I want to share. And a cup of milk more or less, again depending on the amount of servings I want to garner and how thick I would like the consistency to be.

What I wish you could see in this picture is the positively luxurious, velvety texture of the smoothie. Nature’s thickshake. Use a long handled spoon to scrape down the sides of the glass.

Drink to dessert

The likening of this drink to a dessert gave me an idea. I haven’t tested it, but I’m sure avocado and banana would be a delight as an ice-cream. I imagine you could pour the smoothie into an ice-cream maker, or freeze the smoothie and blend it again to produce a healthy frozen treat.
